Pavemend EXC™ |
![]() |
Description: A water activated, chemically bonded composite of minerals precisely blended to balance the desired properties for long term repair and productivity.
Benefits:
Rapid Strength Development, Non-Shrink, Low Modulus of Elasticity, Low Coefficient of Thermal Expansion/Contraction, Self Priming, Self Curing, Water Clean-Up, Can be Layered, No Out-Gassing, Wide Temperature Applications, Can be Screeded, Neutral pH Between 7.5 - 8.5
Limitations:
Not recommended for surface temperatures below 0ºF/-17ºC and above 40ºF/4ºC, submerged applications, polymer coatings must be removed, pumping not recommended. If used below 10ºF/-12ºC delay in loading time, if used above 40ºF/4ºC there will be significant reduction in working time
Unit Weight: 152 lb/ft3 (2434 kg/m3)
Setting Time @ 1” (2.54 cm) applications:
Min. application temperature - 0ºF/-17ºC Final @ 120 to 140 minutes
Max. application temperature - 40ºF/4ºC Final @ 100 to 120 minutes
Recommended Use:
Large volume repair for concrete, masonry and structural asphalt. Suitable for bridge decks, parking garages, floors, joint repair, and pavements
Volume Yield:
Concrete (binder + sand + coarse agg. + H20 ) = 0.37 ft3 (.01 m3)
Packaging:
30lb (13.6 kg) Bag
Shelf Life:
1 year
Storage:
Bags must be kept dry
Test Data
Results provided by third party testing performed by Penniman & Browne and represent typical results from production materials. Actual results may vary from third party testing results; however, CERATECH’s materials meet and/or exceed established internal quality control standards, which will be provided upon request . All samples were air cured.

How to Use Material
1. Concrete surface preparation
Surfaces should be prepared in accordance with ICRI 03730, “Guide for Surface Preparation for the Repair of Deteriorated Concrete Resulting from Reinforcing Steel Corrosion.” Concrete surface should be prepared by appropriate mechanical methods to obtain an exposed aggregate surface with a minimum surface profile of +/- 1/16 “ (1.5 mm) , in accordance with ICRI 03732, “Selecting and Specifying Concrete Surface Preparation for Sealers, Coatings, and Polymer Overlays.” Pre-existing coatings or surface treatments should be completely removed. Dry, clean surfaces are preferred. Remove all standing water. Reinforcing steel should have no loose scale. All previously existing joints must be re-established within 3-5 hours of final set.
- Pre-wet cement mixer with water then drain all water from mixer ( away from repair area)
- Start mixer - Add 1/2 gallon (1.9L) of water to concrete mixer per 30lb (13.6 kg) unit of Pavemend EXC™ to be used
- Add coarse aggregate ( 21lbs (9.5 kg) ASTM # 57- coarse aggregate (1”/ 2.54 cm nominal size) recommended per each unit of Pavemend EXC)
- Add Pavemend EXC™
- Mix for 15 minutes and pour.
- Clean mixer or add water for next batch

- Working times based on ambient temperature, types of aggregate and total amount of water
- Working times are influenced by surface temperature and repair profile.
- Set Times at 72°F/22°C at 3” (7.6 cm) material depth
- Initial set: 30 - 45 minutes
- Final set: 110 - 130 minutes
- Minimum profile thickness is 3 in. (7.6 cm). There are no restrictions to the depth of the repair profile.
- Upon initial set, Pavemend EXC™ a broom finish can be applied. Upon final set, the material can be saw-cut, drilled, sanded and/or polished
- Do not re-temper. The addition of water to the surface of the repair will negatively affect the materials final properties.
- General loading in 3 - 4 hours. In ambient and/or surface temperatures below 0°F/-4°C, extend the loading time by 60 minutes for each 10° below 0°F/-4°C.
4. Curing
- Self-curing
5. Clean-up
- Clean all tools and equipment with water prior to the material reaching final set.
6. Safety
- See Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
- This document does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this document to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
- Dispose of water materials in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
- The use of a dust mask, safety goggles and gloves is recommended.
- Keep out of reach of children.
