Case Study

Title: Architectural Concrete Stamping – Perini Building Company
Scope: Thin overlayment of concrete with stamping finish applied
Purpose: To demonstrate Pavemend TR as a floor repair and overlayment material
Location: Caesar’s Palace – Valet Parking Station.
Date: July 29, 2004

Procedure & Observations:
CERATECH personnel arrived on site to perform an application of Pavemend TR™ in support of an ongoing evaluation of product viability as an overlayment and stamping solution for parking deck repair. The underlying principle for this application is to exhibit the ability to utilize Pavemend as a stamp-able overlayment element focused on high traffic areas subjected to varying loads.

The site consisted of an under roof slab with varying degrees of degradation and delamination of current overlayment products. The repair section (~4’8” x 4’4” x 1/4”) was prepared by Perini Construction prior to our arrival on site. After inspection and removal of residual elements of the failed flooring and inspection of the concrete, the area was swept clean to remove any contaminants. Some cracks were noted and discussed in the surrounding overlayment.

Figure 3: Product placement

The application was on an under roof slab with ambient and surface temperatures of 76°F, material temperatures of 67°F and a starting water temperature of 68F. The surface temperature for the application was 77°F.

All materials were mixed to a critical mix temperature of 90°F before placement. The material was then manipulated to generate a ¼” coverage over the target surface.

A seamless stamp was applied after initial set for texture. It was explained that high frequency, low amplitude vibration was needed for best results

The product was mixed by CERATECH representatives to demonstrate proper technique and subsequently handed off to members of the application groups. CERATECH personnel placed the product to display ease of use and the engineered properties of the product.
