Case Study

Title: Municipality - City of Dallas, Texas
Scope: Presentation and demonstration of Pavemend materials and their typical uses.
Purpose: Promotion and support of sales in the Greater Dallas Metropolitan area.
Location: City of Dallas, Texas
Date: April 8, 2004

Procedure & Observations:
CERATECH personnel traveled to the offices of the City of Dallas to meet with the streets and roads maintenance personnel. When they arrived on site, they were escorted to a conference room where we were to perform the presentation. Maintenance personnel with the streets and roads division attended the presentation.

Following the presentation, they were escorted to multiple repair sites located within the confines of the city facility. The first repair site measured approximately 18 inches X 9 inches X 3.5 inches (average depth). The area was located right of the centerline of the entrance road into the city facility and was determined to be joint failure.

The second repair site measured approximately 18 inches X 18 inches X 3 inches (average depth). This area was located at the entrance into the facility on the far right hand side of the roadway, adjacent to the curb line.

Pavemend SLQ™ (5.0) was used to perform the repairs, as the group was primarily concerned with quick return of the road to service. Site one was prepared according to ACI specifications. One bucket of Pavemend SLQ™ (5.0) was utilized in the repair.

Ambient temps at the time of the repair were approximately 86°F., material temps were approximately 89°F., and the water temps were approximately 75°F. Mix time for the materials averaged approximately 1:45 minutes, mixing the material to a critical mix temperature of 92°F. A brush finish was applied to the surface of the repair.

Site two was prepared according to ACI standards. The site was located on a slightly sloped surface and also included a small piece of curbing (approximately 1.5 inches in height). Two units of Pavemend SLQ™ (5.0) were placed in the repair area and were mixed to the same criteria and with the same conditions as the repair of site one.

CERATECH personnel were able contain the material within the repair site and re-establish the remaining curb line and apply a brush finish to the surface of the repair, showing versatility of our material, even with our fastest setting material.
